The Bead Journal Project

The BJP is all about visual journaling using any media and techniques, providing it includes some beading. We are free to structure our bead journal pages any way we want, as long as all 12 are the same size.

I've joined BJP because in 2011 I've been drawn to books about bead embroidery.  I've checked out countless books from the library on it, but have struggled on where to start.  This project will give me the push I need to put needle to backing and begin.  Each month I will try to learn a different technique and hopefully find what works for me.

I will use the standard color/theme for each month: Jan - winter; Feb. Valentines; March St. Patrick's Day; April - april showers; May - may flowers; June - summer; July - 4th of July; Aug. - beach days; Sept - autumn; Oct. - halloween; Nov. - Thanksgiving; Dec. Christmas

I want to incorporate my love of fiber with my love of beads so I will choose the background fabric from my sewing stash of which I will do a light freeform style of crazy quilt.  My beading will incorporate the some part of the pattern of the fabric along with a freeform embroidered piece I will attach to the crazy quilt square.

I'm going to work with a 5" x 5" square of fabric for my base.  The embroidered piece will vary in size since it is freeform.  Once completed I want to sew all the pieces together with a 1" quilted space between them.

This is a very ambitious project for me.  It is definitely a stretch goal.
I intend to grow my skills with this.
